One Night Outside to Transform Lives

Make a donation to Jen Bystry

On November 2nd more than 1,000 children, teens and adults will spend the night sleeping outside in tents, boxes, or cars or doubled up inside their homes without a bed to call their own, all to raise awareness about family homelessness and funds for Bridge Communities' Transitional Housing Program.

Your help is needed now more than ever. With your help, Bridge Communities will transition over 100 families to self-sufficiency by working with community partners to provide mentoring, housing, and supportive services. Please give to demonstrate your commitment to helping homeless families build a bridge to a brighter future!

A personal message from Jen Bystry

Dear family and friends,

Not only am I on staff at Bridge, but I recently became a volunteer mentor for a new Bridge family! Client T is a dynamic, young, single mom who was trying to survive on $18.50/hr. Despite being a top performer at the logistics company she works for, there is no opportunity for meaningful advancement. For the past several years, Client T and her 6-year-old daughter have been bouncing among family members and hotel rooms. Like 92% of the families Bridge serves, she was always working, but never able to afford safe, stable housing.

Client T is fully embracing the Bridge program. With the help of Bridge staff and her mentor team, she will be working to find a living-wage job with career potential. She is also looking forward to augmenting her budgeting skills, paying down debt, and saving for her future, as well as benefitting from the rich life skills and other programming Bridge offers. Because Bridge provides a generational solution, we are also working with her daughter to help her thrive academically, physically, and emotionally.

Client T grew up knowing food and housing insecurity. She went to college and earned a bachelor's degree because she wanted to do better. But as first-generation college graduate, she didn’t have the role models or guidance she needed to leverage her degree. Thanks to your support, she’ll get that guidance, plus the safety, space, and breathing room she needs to change both her and her daughter's trajectory, to have hope and a brighter future for them both.

Thank you for considering a donation to help Client T and all the other hard-working families in our program who just need a stable place to catch their breath and mentoring to rise above circumstances often beyond their control.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Jen

Sincerely,
Jen Bystry

Thank you to all those who pledged!
